Long-time lake resident, Lea Harper established Kennisis Cottage Rentals in 2006 to meet the increasing demand for holiday accommodations in Haliburton County. Operating from the heart of Ontario’s vacation paradise, Lea brings to the table years of cottaging experience, and takes special pride in what this spectacular area has to offer. With its stunning vistas and endless opportunities for outdoor fun, our region has become one of the most sought-after vacation destinations in Ontario. There are 90 well-known lakes to explore, and in truth, you can’t travel more than two miles without encountering a body of water.
Although providing a wide spectrum of lakefront accommodations, Kennisis Cottage Rentals handles a select number of cottages each year, thus ensuring exceptional service to both owner and vacationer. Our loyal clients and a growing roster of return renters attest to the value of this personal touch and level of commitment.

A Personal Journey
As an award-winning writer and musician, I have travelled extensively. I’ve lived in Toronto, Montreal and Los Angeles, but it’s the Haliburton Highlands that have always felt like home.
My lifelong romance with Kennisis Lake began when my parents bought a cottage on the south shore in 1956. We spent our summers at the lake, where I met my future husband whose family owned the local marina from the mid-60s to the mid-80s. In 2000, we moved to here permanently, and our children attended school in the nearby town of Haliburton.
Having gained practical knowledge working for a large cottage rental agency, and at the request of relatives, neighbours and friends on Kennisis, Redstone and Kashagawigamog Lakes, I launched my own business. It’s all about trust. Recommendation and reputation are strong allies, and now, Kennisis Cottage Rentals have attracted property owners from beyond the borders of Haliburton County, and renters from the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.
I love living in this pristine wilderness of forests and lakes. In my role as rental agent, I feel privileged to offer this experience to others. It is here that memories are made. Once touched by the enduring magic of the Haliburton Highlands, our guests return year after year.
